If you are looking at buying a DAF LF180 then you it will be a post 2013, Euro 6 model that you are interested in. The problem you will have is that it is not clear from the model number what the gross vehicle weight of the truck is. The LF180 is available as a 7.5 tonner, a 10 tonner, 12 tonner, 14 tonner and even a 16-tonne truck. Check carefully as different driving licences are required for the heavier models. As with the smaller-engined 150, the 180 is most often found in the UK used truck market as a box truck or refrigerated box truck. The more involved conversions tend to use the bigger brother – the 210hp version.

LF180 Driveline
Powered by the PACCAR PX-5 engine rated at 184hp. It’s a 4-cylinder, 4.5-litre with 750Nm maximum torque. The original buyer had the choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AS Tronic automated gearbox (which had the hill start function).
Three different rear axle ratios were available – the standard being 3.73 – but there was an optional 3.31 or a 4.10. Similarly, there were four wheelbase lengths available from 3.55m to 4.65.
Choice of Cabs
The LF180 has a Cab width of 2130 mm, regardless of the type chosen The options are:
- Day Cab with steel bumper, tinted glass and electric window openers. Main mirrors and wide angle mirrors are electrically heated as standard.
- Extended Day Cab with steel bumper. The longer cab provides extra storage space behind the seats. Tinted glass and electric window openers. Main mirrors and wide angle mirrors electrically heated as standard.
- Sleeper Cab with steel bumper, tinted glass and electric window openers. Main mirrors and wide angle mirrors electrically heated as standard.
