The Euro 6 DAF CF260 first appeared in the 2017/18 facelift of the CF range, replacing the CF450. This saw an increase of around 10hp in the 7-litre PX-7 engine to 264hp. Other improvements were made at the time of the facelift, so if you are looking at a 2017 model, it’s worth sticking with the 260 over the 250 as fuel consumption was improved at the time. The 260 is typically configured as an 18-tonne 4×2 rigid truck for distribution purposes, so used examples that we see are box trucks and curtainsiders with a mixture of day cabs, sleeper cabs and some CF Space cabs as well. Local distribution operators not requiring their drivers to sleep in their cabs overnight may be better considering the LF260 at 18 tonnes operation. This will give a better payload and uses the same driveline as the CF with identical power outputs. Sticking with the CF model, then there is the lower output CF230, still using the same 7-litrer engine or, again with the PX-7 engine, this time tuned to produce 290hp in the CF290. Older models too are a possibility. Still at Euro 6, you may wish to consider the 250 or the CF280 – these will cover the years around 2014 to 2017/18.
